Anamorphic prisms are used to enlarge the size of a laser beam in one axial direction. They are ideal for expanding only one direction (the short axis direction) of the elliptical beam emitted from a typical laser diode, transforming it into a shape that is nearly circular. Composed of two identical prisms, they can achieve an aspect ratio enlargement from 2:1 to 6:1 by placing the prisms in a specified positional relationship to each other. The anti-reflective coatings applied to the entrance and exit surfaces of the prisms offer two options. The NIR I multi-coating functions over a wide wavelength range of 600 to 1050 nm, providing excellent performance with red semiconductor lasers such as 635 nm and 670 nm.
